It has been an amazing eight years for me. I’ve had the pendulum completely swing for me on so many different things I THOUGHT I knew. The truth is that the past eight years working with DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training has proven to me how wrong I was about so many of my preconceived ideas. To be honest, I never saw myself working with DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training so much. Being a physical therapist I had a lot of tools at my disposal. The fact that DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training has become my cornerstone I thought I would share with you 20 reasons I fell in love with this program so much and why you might want to look at it differently!

1. It is the closest thing to real life

When you look at how we move and what we lift in real life there is nothing that matches the demands of our world like DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training. Our world is not static, it is not up and down. Rather, we have all sorts of movements and deal with objects that are less than cooperative. DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training is the only program that I have seen that blends high quality movement with an implement that can replicate the unpredictability of the real world. 

2. There is a program

Over the years I have been exposed to a lot of different seminars and supposed programs. They weren’t all bad, but typically I would pull an exercise, or maybe a drill here and there. DVRT completely changed how I saw both fitness and even rehab. The fact that DVRT is a program that teaches such specific progressions and is based on such awesome principles, makes it easy to fall in love. 

3. You never get bored

Yea, people are shocked when they hear that almost my entire workouts are done using the Ultimate Sandbag. They look at me as though they are saying, “how?!” Well, this goes back to number two. If you know how to use the DVRT system not only do you have what feels like an infinite number of ways to use your Ultimate Sandbag, but more importantly you have PURPOSE behind your training. When you know you aren’t going to get bored AND you are training with direction, that is pretty cool!

4. You don’t need a lot of equipment

You might find this funny for me to say since I do have access to a lot of Ultimate Sandbags. Truth be told though, I only use about 2-3 different sizes. There are times that I have one in my office and that is more than plenty for me to get a killer workout. For so many of you that either are being financially conscious about things, or don’t have a lot of space to build a gym, having 1-2 Ultimate Sandbags doesn’t ever make you feel like you are compromising!

5. You don’t need a gym

Before I knew about DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training I would head off to LA Fitness by me and try to squeeze in a workout. Oh, it stunk! Going before work seemed like a nightmare and going after work wasn’t much better. Fighting crowds, wrestling for equipment, and just the whole process of going to a gym after work definitely wasn’t the best for achieving long-term success. The fact that I can squeeze in a workout at any time for 15-20 minutes, or I can just pull an Ultimate Sandbag out either at the park or my living room, is so liberating!

6. The workouts don’t take a long time

I’ll be honest, when I first saw DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training I thought, “cool, must be for really hardcore fitness.” That was quickly dispelled when Josh had me perform a Bear Hug Squat for the first time. Why was this such a big deal? Not only did I squat deeper than I ever had before, but it was the FIRST time that I could remember squatting without low back pain! That really opened my mind in how DVRT could be so many different things for different people. That is why it doesn’t matter if you want to use it for corrective exercise, or high performance sports training, DVRT works for you!

8. So easy to customize

This might be one of the most underrated and unspoken parts of DVRT. I’ve been amazed by some of our coaches like DVRT Master Chief, James Newman, completely customize group fitness workout for his clients. Now, I don’t mean that he pre-programmed a workout, rather, as he watched how different clients moved and what they needed he was easily able to make the workout right for them! No, not making people feel like they were doing less, not compromising the integrity of the program. Rather, knowing how to take the concept of the DVRT drill and just give them the RIGHT version! Learning DVRT means you learn how to make fitness just right for you. 

9. You hit muscles you didn’t know you had

I think this happens to everyone when they first perform some of the more unique DVRT drills. Whether it is Rotational Lunge, Around the World, Front Loaded Good Mornings, or a host of other DVRT exercises. You feel something just got worked, you can even point to something that feels different, BUT the next day or so you realize how much your typical fitness programs have been missing! All you can do is scratch your head and ask yourself, “how was I missing that part of my body?!” Yes, even if you have been performing many of the classic gym exercises you will be surprised how much you have been missing!

10. It changes lives

I would be totally skeptical if I read such a thing too! However, now having seen and experienced the changes DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training creates, I feel more than confident telling anyone this! Whether it was someone recovering from an injury they didn’t know if possible, if it was helping older people regain their functionality, athletes that wanted to perform their best, or even those that lose the weight that they had always wanted, but never could. For me, it is personal because DVRT has changed my life. The fact that I can live without pain, the fact I can do things I didn’t think were possible. These are the things I want YOU to experience!
