The Best Ultimate Sandbag Workout The Bear Complex

Most people don’t know this, I was VERY close to going into teaching. The idea of making an impact upon young people like others had done for me was a strong motivation. Plus, I always wanted to fulfill what my Mom could not. She was to go back into teaching when she fell ill with cancer and ended up passing. Her passion to inspire young people was something that I wanted to carry on.

That’s why I love so much now what we do with our DVRT Ultimate Sandbag workout programs. My goal isn’t to just give you something difficult, but to help you think about how to create more successful fitness for yourself. That is why I love this Einstein quote so much!

The reason we spend so much time trying to educate people on how the body works and not just give you random exercises is because knowledge really is power. Let’s face it, there is no shortage of exercises out there, the hard part is knowing which are worth spending time on and are worth your effort.

Let’s look at something more specific. In order to really drive the point home let’s look at an intense and popular exercise, the Bear Complex. I first heard of the Bear Complex from Strength Coach, John Davies. It involves five exercises to be all done in one exercise. The five movements are:

  • Clean
  • Front Squat
  • Overhead Press
  • Back Squat
  • Overhead Press

There are several ways to combine these movements, but no two ways about them, they are intense! However, like most things in the gym, people get stuck. They try and try to go faster, or heavier, and guess what? They often get hit like a rock by the plateau bug!

Mostly because we don’t address the movement needs that make a big difference in their strength and conditioning. That is why when we do things differently with our Ultimate Sandbag workout programs is not just doing different, but thinking about smarter.

How can we use the concepts of a great idea in the Bear Complex, but create DVRT Ultimate Sandbag workout programs that address the smaller muscles, the mobility, the dynamic stability, the reflexive strength that is needed to actually improve.

That is why when we created these DVRT Ultimate Sandbag workout programs around the Bear Complex, it wasn’t just about being different. It IS about trying to find better. Discovering where we need more work, developing more well rounded fitness qualities besides just moving up and down, learning how to be more fluid and dynamic than what we typically think about the gym.

Go for 3-5 rounds of any one of these Ultimate Sandbag Training complexes. Aim to hit between 3-6 repetitions for all the movements! See how understanding movement allows us to get better results IF we are willing to be open-minded about how we approach the body.
