In my last post I talked about how the smallest moments in our lives can completely change the outcome of our futures. Choosing to battle and fight or to give up can set forth a course in our lives that we may have never expected. Especially because we make these decisions all the time. At times they seem very small and insignificant, at others they feel as though they consume our lives.
Believe it or not, both are equally as important. The smaller decisions may not seem as important but they can begin a trend of not paying attention to the small things in life or building habits we really don’t want to possess.
I know this because this is the path DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training headed. In 2006 DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training was still very young. We were still testing our theories in the gym and upgrading the the USB itself. I was also falling into a bit of a trap.
People wanted sandbag training as “hardcore”, “bad ass”, and “brutal”. Since our Ultimate Sandbag Training had completely rejuvenated people’s interest in sandbag training I thought that was maybe the direction we should head. After all, I like to train hard and why not have Ultimate Sandbag Training represent this very thing?
Throwing, slamming, doing wild and crazy things with Ultimate Sandbag Training seemed to be what people were most interested in doing. I almost went down this road too, but I had to make a decision. What was DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training known for?
Was it going to be this “underground, hardcore, super tough, and wild bunch of exercises”, or could it be something more. The reason I wasn’t sold on this first idea is that it missed one big thing, it didn’t solve real fitness needs.
Being “tough”, “hardcore”, or any of these concepts are how you approach training, not what the training actually becomes. For example, just doing exercises you like isn’t that tough, no matter how challenging they actually are in performing. It IS much more tough to do the drills that you don’t feel confident in, but you know can have the biggest impact on your goals. In fact, long time Powerlifter and one of the biggest proponents of “bad ass training”, Dave Tate says, “do what you suck at first!” Couldn’t really say it better myself.
So, I made the decision.
DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training was always going to be challenging and hard work, but it was also going to be a system of solving needs and providing innovative solutions.
I am so glad I did! Trust me it hasn’t been easy. People don’t like change. It isn’t as though announcing that DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training was this amazing program automatically resulted in people believing what I had to say.
We knew the battle was going to be tough, but this is the time we had to make that decision. Were we going to be a fad that showed some novel exercises and then faded into the night, or could we make a difference, a change in how people saw fitness.
We have been met with all types of reactions. Those that fell in love with our mission and those that would accuse us of trying to make a quick buck. With hundreds of free training articles and videos we have created, we made it everything to us to share our message no matter what we are met with as long as one thing still holds true.
DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training always stays true to progressive, smart, thoughtful, fun, and innovative programs and exercises. That is a big reason we have taught DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training all over the world at some of the top facilities around. It works!
So is DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training about being strong? Absolutely! Is DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training about get you in the best shape of your life? No doubt! Will DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training keep your interest and challenge you for the long haul? Been 8 years and I don’t think I have ever found my fitness less boring and definitely never been as much fun!
I realize that making everyone happy is impossible, but that wasn’t going to stop us. We are dedicated to education being at the forefront of what DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training does. That is why today is no different, an opportunity to see how you can use DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training to build a strong foundation and move to the drills that most have never seen!
