If I had to parallel DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training to any other form of strength training, it wouldn’t be barbells, or really even kettlebells. In all honesty, it would be bodyweight training!
Why?
When people think of bodyweight exercises they think of flowing movement. They think of the body being graceful, flexible, and mobile. That is EXACTLY how I think of DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training.
Yes, we have our Front Loaded Squats, Clean and Presses, and similar looking barbell lifts. However, EVERY exercise in DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training is based around two simple concepts.
1. That we try to improve the person’s movement by using the exercise.
2. How the core works with the extremities to create movement.
If you look at these relatively simple two concepts, this is really what we want when we think of functional training.
The last commonality of DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training and bodyweight exercises is they are both incredibly versatile while being cost efficient. Now, you might say that bodyweight exercises are FREE, well, not really. Watching how many people perform bodyweight exercises now there are gymnastics rings, pull-up bars, dip belts, suspension units, chains, weighted vests, etc.
Now, I have no problem with ANY of these things, but they aren’t free;) However, both are really cost efficient and allow you to do so many different things that are both helpful and purposeful. That is why I wanted to share one of our favorite DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training and bodyweight workouts.
