When we began DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training I really didn’t know if it would be more than something I did in my garage. Most of what I started doing with DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training was what I did in my garage, not in the gym. There were a few reasons for this, one of the most was I knew that sandbags had a horrible history of being dirty and a mess (shoot, I experienced that first hand!) so I didn’t want to get thrown out of the gym.
Funny to see early forms of DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training and see the difference in both the program and tool today!
The other part was I wanted to look like I knew what to do with our DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training drills. What did they feel like? What were they making better? Were they providing us with something unique we couldn’t get by doing something else.
You have to understand in 2005 and even the first few years of DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training I wasn’t that devoted to the business of DVRT. My first concern was my training facility and THEN I wanted to see if this “sandbag training” thing did anything unique in the world of strength training.
In my wildest dreams I never thought I would have the opportunity to teach at every national industry conference, in over 13 countries around the world, and help the fire & police departments as well as US Marines & Army.
Ultimate Sandbag Training at Home?
Once I started seeing and personally feeling the difference of DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training to other tools I knew I had something special there. I knew that this would become something I wanted to dedicate my life to helping people appreciate, experience, and benefit from themselves!
My world changed only in teaching professionals all over the world about how DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training could change their movement instead of individuals in the gym!
What I noticed during this transition in my life is how my home gym model started to become the model of gyms all over the world. While I was growing with DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training, people all over were starting to get a little better on the understanding of this idea of functional fitness. Besides being a powerful way of making the body perform and look better, functional training was also ushering in the ability to use a few pieces of strength equipment to do so much in your workouts!

When we understand how our bodies actually function, then we can talk creating true functional training exercises and workouts.
The reason I wanted to use DVRT to demonstrate the power of functional training is that it allowed for having the ability to develop incredible fitness results no matter where you were able to train. It wasn’t just about the tool, but the intent and purpose you used with the tools. Whether you wanted to train at home, outside, or you did enjoy going to the local gym, you weren’t restricted in the results you could achieve.

Coach Cari Satre helps us show how easy it can be to develop at total body workout with nothing more than a single Ultimate Sandbag and a little space to move.
With that said, notice I said it gives you the ABILITY to get great results. What we still need is the know how and the work ethic because don’t get me wrong, a lot of people try to justify NOT doing DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training because the work is real! However, I think that even though it is hard work, what you learn from it goes for something so much deeper. What I have also noticed about the jump of DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training opening the world to more accessible fitness is the fact when people experience it, they want to tell everyone about it and help others reach their goals!
