It was a pretty simple question, yet the answer I couldn’t avoid being much more.

Ultimate Sandbag Training“What is DVRT?” I was asked by a Japanese reporter during my recent trip for our first DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training certification in Japan.

After all, what does “Dynamic Variable Resistance Training” really mean? Why isn’t it JUST Ultimate Sandbag Training? Isn’t that what we use, what we are known for?

It is probably THE most common mistake people make when it comes to really understanding what we are about and why we are DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training. I see it all the time in fact on social media.

People show the Ultimate Sandbag, they show themselves trying to lift the Ultimate Sandbag, heck they show clients using the Ultimate Sandbag. All things I GREATLY appreciate, but having the right tool is only one part of DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training.

Most people don’t know why we designed the Ultimate Sandbag the way we have and why we have seen various evolutions over the years. Sure, part of it is working hard to make it the most durable and comfortable piece of fitness equipment, but still only part!

So, what is DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training? The philosophy I will share with may or may not answer the question. “A systematic approach to improving and then challenging functional human movement.” I did warn you, that was a philosophy. What does it all mean?

Okay, that STILL doesn’t answer the question! At our base level we are teaching first how to establish foundational movements. We want you to learn how to optimally perform base level functional movements so that we can build complexity over time.
