I was SO disappointed by the last Transformers movie. Yes, I know you shouldn’t be expecting any Academy Award types of movies with Transformers, but as a child of the 80’s I have a super soft spot for the franchise and will always give them another chance (yes, I’ll probably even buy it on iTunes). As always though, I try to find a way to enjoy going to the movies and finding little things that make them fun! One quote I got reminded me of was an Arthur Clarke one that Mark Whalburg shared during the movie…
This seemingly random moment did make me think of DVRT Ultimate Sandbag exercises. Partly because my friend and mentor, Robert Dos Remedios, often gives me a bit of a hard time in doing “magic tricks” at conferences we speak at. He will usually forewarn a few people that you gotta watch Josh and his DVRT Ultimate Sandbag exercises are magic! I know he means as a compliment, but it does make me feel like I am doing a magic show sometimes (maybe something to do with living in Las Vegas now).
It LOOKS like magic because of how fast the changes we can make in people with DVRT Ultimate Sandbag exercises it seems like it could either be magic or selling people “snake oil”. I’ve seen it too, the cool looking trick on stage that no one else can emulate or reproduce. Sometimes something that worked once, but never works again for some mysterious reason.
However, that is why I love the Arthur Clarke quote, because it isn’t magic, it is just understanding and using science to its fullest. What they say about understanding is true, if you can’t explain a concept in the most simplest terms then you really don’t understand it. That is why I see people misunderstand or miss “the bigger picture” when it comes to using the sincere they say.
How did we help my massage therapist friend, Jen, improve her thoracic mobility in under one minute? Find out the technology, not the magic!
DVRT Ultimate Sandbag exercises are using science, not “sandbag training” to determine how we train people and make them better. One of those key concepts comes from the world of physical therapy. We have talked about it a lot with DVRT Ultimate Sandbag exercises but I feel like people still don’t get it. It comes from the world of PNF (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation)….
“Proximal stability creates distal mobility.”
This simple saying has become the cornerstone to many programs, not just DVRT Ultimate Sandbag exercises but others like FMS. The saying basically just reminds us that our bodies are about survival. If they feel threatened (unstable) they will shut down any change of injury possible. That means allowing typically very mobile areas like shoulders and hips to become very “tight”. Really the tightness is a protective action because the spine feels unsafe.
When we perform exercises that tie in the chains of the body, make the spine feel stable, all of a sudden our brain takes the breaks off our body. That is where we see DVRT Ultimate Sandbag exercises can work their magic. Within just two repetitions or so we can DRASTICALLY change how people feel, move, and perform.
It isn’t just about doing any exercise that works the “core”. Rather, knowing how to tie the chains of the body together by using tension. That would be tension into the ground with the feet and specific tension in how we hold the Ultimate Sandbag. When you see DVRT Ultimate Sandbag exercises below, I am not just trying to hold the Ultimate Sandbag, I’m trying to RIP it apart.
Intentional tension creation like this allows us to “wake-up” the muscles that usually fall asleep from sitting, injury or, bad training. When these muscles don’t work we are more prone to injury, feel “stiff”, and can’t be as strong as we really want to be. What is amazing about this exercise is look what two repetitions do for my thoracic mobility. It isn’t “magic”, but just using science to help our bodies function better. You can see it in DVRT Ultimate Sandbag exercises I also use below as an ideal warm-up before my training. You feel parts of your body younger knew you had!
To cause REAL change you need the knowledge to do so. That is why you won’t want to miss some of our revolutionary DVRT educational programs HERE
