That is why I am so passionate about the simple things in DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training that can give you BIG results! Things that most don’t think about, talk about, or know about!


Because DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training just thinks differently, we see fitness, movement, health just in a more cohesive state rather than in individual part. 

A great example is our focus on plane of motion training. For a lot of people just knowing what muscles they are hitting is a big accomplishment, forget about planes of motion. 

Why should you care? 

The body in almost every daily activity and sporting motion works in all three planes of motion. However, when it comes to the gym, we are innovative if we employ more than one! Focusing on how the body naturally moves means we are going to hit the muscles in the way they were suppose to function. 

Overall this gives us such a better training effect. We avoid many overuse injuries, hit some smaller muscles that are weak links, make our body more coordinated and smarter in its movement, and develop real functional every day strength!

Sounds good right? How do you do it? 

For many of you, just exploring a new plane is going to be a great start. I like to introduce many to the frontal plane. Simply think of frontal plane movement in general to be anything we do side to side. 

What’s the big deal with frontal plane movement? For one it is the one that we are typical weakest in. Such a weakness usually shows in many shoulder, back, and knee issues that people completely miss! 

Spine performance and health expert, Dr. Stuart McGill, promotes frontal plane training to help prevent many back issues because of the stabilization done for the hip and the trunk that can be stimulated in sagittal plane exercises. Renown strength coach, Robert Dos Remedios, is big on frontal plane exercises to reduce ACL injuries in his athletes as well as improving cutting speed (kinda important for athletes!).

Okay, okay, so HOW do you do it? 

While some will promote frontal plane movement in the body they often keep it to JUST the lower body, with DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training we can do frontal plane training with upper and lower segments of the body!

There are two ways to incorporate frontal plane training. We can resist frontal plane training (i.e. shouldering movements, arc presses, rotational lunges, lateral bag drags, etc.), or we can move in the frontal plane (lateral lunges, arc presses, crossover lunges, half moon snatch, etc.) and often we can use both! (shoulder lateral lunges and arc presses are two great examples!) 

In today’s DVRT Ultimate Sandbag workout we have both incorporated for you. So you can try this DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training circuit. 

Aim for 3-5 Rounds

Perform in a circuit style with only as much rest as needed.

-Lateral Hip Swings x 10-12 per side

-Lateral Bag Drags x 3-5 per side

-Shoulder Lunge to Balance x 10-12 per side

-Arc Presses x 8-10 per side
