Every once in awhile I like to take a step back.
I get so excited to show people all that DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training can do for them it is a good idea to let people just get started. Get a taste of what looks simple can be one of the most effective fitness programs they have ever used!
That is why I was really happy to see DVRT Master, Jason Balajadia, share a really simple DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training workout that may not look like much but is definitely very evil! One of the aspects I like most about Jason’s program is the use of some of our Burly Ultimate Sandbags. You see, so many people tend to think of “sandbags” as just for conditioning, but the truth is they may be one of the most effective strength training tools out there because of how much they demand from your body.
In a recent conversation with DVRT Master Chief, Troy Anderson, he asked me, “do you think people look at the videos and think the DVRT drills are just too easy?”
I had to think about it, but I had to agree with Troy. For one, unlike barbells you can’t really tell how much an Ultimate Sandbag weighs. Our coaches can get a rough estimate because we know what different sizes and loads of DVRT Ultimate Sandbags look like when they move, but for most people, they would have NO IDEA!
The other side of it is 80 or 100 pounds doesn’t sound all that bad. I mean, a lot of guys can clean that much with one hand so what would be the big deal with doing it with two?
That was the thought when strength coaches at the National Strength & Conditioning Association stopped by to talk shop with us recently in Atlanta. “Heck, that doesn’t look so bad, how much does it weigh?”, was the most common question we received. Once we told them you saw a grin of confidence come about, that was until they tried to lift it!
I remember one coach in particular scoffed at the idea that 100 pound Ultimate Sandbag could be that challenging. So, when he went to clean it, the Ultimate Sandbag didn’t move past his waistline! Completely demoralized, he just stood there looking at it. Sure, I explained to him the difference in center of mass, the change in pull, but he was just puzzled. At the end of the day it was just 100 pounds in his head!
Let’s face it, DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training might be the most deceiving and brutally effective means of getting fit. Yet, there is only way to know for sure, you gotta do it!
