Maybe you just don’t care.
I mean, how many times when you are putting on a bathing suit does someone go, “hey, how much can you lift?”
Fortunately, the idea of being strong has grown and become more popular amongst both men AND women.
Strength is not just for the men, ladies can greatly benefit from athletic strength
The downside is that it can be confusing to know why strength is important and how it can even impact your cosmetic goals.
Strength shouldn’t be THAT hard to define right? It is the most amount of weight you can lift. Well, kinda.
Does strength have to do with what you can lift? Absolutely, it is just that is not the WHOLE story!
What most people miss in strength training is it isn’t just what you can lift, but what you can resist. What do I mean? Most people when they workout are very task oriented. Lift THIS weight, do it THIS many times, etc.
However, in order to really dramatically impact your fitness you need to be far more aware of how you do these things and the little nuances of every exercise. What helps you actually achieve the extraordinary is paying attention to such things.
When we talk about DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training we discuss the fact that some of the best exercises are just about what you lift, but what you prevent your body from doing. For example, something as simple as a Shoulder Squat, we look to avoid rotating the hips, leaning the trunk, moving the feet. Doing so makes the exercise not just more challenging but a hundred times more effective!
Same thing with DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training drills like Rotational Lunges, Around the Worlds, and yes, even the Clean and Press!
So, why should you really care? The key to being strong is learning how to connect your body to itself. Just like the old saying, “you are only as strong as your weakest link.” Now most people assume that just means strengthening an individual muscle, but in reality, it is about challenging how these chains of muscles work together.
Just this past weekend in Vancouver we were running our DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training Level 1 certification. During our Clean and Press test you could see people that were struggling were those that weren’t able to maintain those connections. They allowed their backs to get out of position, didn’t press into the ground at the right time, and more! Those that NAILED it were able to make the connections strong and therefore made each repetition look EASY!
How does this relate to looking better? The idea of DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training isn’t just improving how you feel, but far more economical in how you train! Learning to make these connections and then challenging means that you are hitting more muscles, burning more calories, and working all aspects of fitness at a higher level.
There is a difference between being more efficient and being easy! These DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training workouts are NOT easy, but their payoff is always worth it. In all honesty, what people love is that they do become more engaged in their workouts. It isn’t just about doing reps, it is being aware of your body! Something that fitness really should become for every one of us.
See how we use this concept in the DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training workout above and find out how stronger in the DVRT way carries over to achieving so many different fitness goals!
