It must have been around 2003ish and I remember the influx. My clients had always thought what I made them do in our training facility was a bit crazy. They loved it, but they had this weird feeling maybe I was making them do some unusually cruel form of exercise.
I think they even though I was making stuff up on the fly because it was so tremendously different from anything they had ever done. What started to happen around 2003 would completely change how they saw what they were doing in their fitness programs.
The first one is always most memorable. Diane had been a client for about 3 years and was as loyal as they come. She admitted she thought we were some evil torture chamber, but almost never missed a session.
One day she brought it in with eyes wide open, she was pretty excited. Her husband had a subscription to Men’s Health and the article talked about these “new” training methods that some of the top athletes were using. Funny enough, many of them were the same things she was doing in the gym herself!
