Those Ultimate Sandbag Exercises Make No Sense!!

sandbag exercises

It was soooooo close for me! In fact, I had started doing my student teaching and really believed I was on my way to fulfilling my life’s plan. I was going to be a high school teacher and coach basketball as well. At that time it was everything I THOUGHT I wanted. Things changed as the reality of being a teacher become more and more of a challenge sadly enough. Less jobs, more politics, I knew I wanted to still be a teacher, but the formal education of the high schools didn’t seem the right path for me.

Fast forward no over 20 years and I am happy that I made the right choice. I could still be a teacher, but teaching people something I never thought I would in DVRT Ultimate Sandbag exercises makes it all worthwhile! To me, there is no better feeling that helping people learn, get excited about the knowledge the gain, the ideas that they develop, and the inspiration they get to go use their new education with others!

What I didn’t expect to encounter being a coach (which to me is the same as a teacher) was that we would have such a difficult time establishing a common ground in communicating the ideas that are so essential to helping others. Fitness is so unique in that the industry as a whole is not so great at having universally agreed upon concepts and ideas. This can be VERY frustrating in trying to communicate the value of our DVRT Ultimate Sandbag exercises because inherently, we are often all speaking a different language.

In fact, why people sometimes get really upset, confused, and even write off DVRT Ultimate Sandbag exercises aren’t for any other reason than they don’t understand them and how they fit real world fitness. Trust me, fitness is not lacking buzz words, but understanding in what these words really mean to our training. Here are a few examples….

Functional Training

Of course no one wants to believe their training isn’t functional to SOMETHING, but that isn’t what this popular word means! It was originally intended by physical therapists to train the body as it is designed to function in life. Sadly, if we don’t know how the body works, it is difficult to create solutions for better fitness goals.

That is why the heart of all our DVRT Ultimate Sandbag exercises is training the body as it is designed to move! Not as one muscle, not a few, but how all the muscles of the body work together to create motion!

Credit to Anatomy Trains for having such an influence of how we construct exercises!

When people see our DVRT Ultimate Sandbag exercises they have a hard time seeing how training the hip is related to helping the shoulder. How building core integrity gives us better mobility in the hips and shoulders. How we help your upper body strength by using your feet!

Not understanding these concepts of functional training makes using our more complex patterns even MORE confusing!

At first glance these DVRT Ultimate Sandbag exercises may seem to having nothing in common, but if you delve deeper into how our body moves, creates strength, and is connected they make ALL the sense in the world!

Core Training

We talk A LOT about core training with our DVRT Ultimate Sandbag exercises for good reason. Not because it is really trendy, but personally I experienced what happens to your movement when your core gets destroyed! Yes, when I had three spinal surgeries in ten days, my core was open and torn to shreds!

The amazing part wasn’t just how having your body opened up like this impacted my trunk, but everything! My arms were weaker, my legs were weaker, I moved slower, everything was impacted by my the weakness of my core!

Of course I don’t want or hope that people go through similar core trauma. That is why DVRT Ultimate Sandbag exercises are set to a continuum rather than just one or two exercises.

Establishing good movement concepts with our DVRT Ultimate Sandbag exercises lead us to not just having more variation, but more impact with these movements!

The number of DVRT Ultimate Sandbag exercises are only limited by your understanding of good movement!

However, TRUE core strength is built upon how we move and provide stability to our body during actual motion. That is one of the concepts of our DVRT Ultimate Sandbag exercises that people get confused the most about. The fact we focus on not a singular muscle, but complexity of movement makes trying to figure out what each one of our DVRT Ultimate Sandbag exercises offers challenging for many.

That is the difference though on focusing on the body and its natural movement and not the muscles that make up the body. Training muscles can be a way to make you look better, but what if I told you could look, move, AND feel better?! Isn’t that way better and incentive to open up to the way we think about strength and fitness training.

Find out how we accomplish so much and teach dynamic motion like these into seamless reactive strength training. Don’t miss our upcoming DVRT educational programs HERE!
