Description
WHY SMARTER EXERCISE PRESCRIPTION MATTERS MORE THAN EVER
Whether you’re a seasoned strength coach, a physical therapist, or a dedicated fitness professional, you’ve likely asked yourself the same questions time and again:
*Why isn’t this exercise delivering the result I expected?
*Why is this client still experiencing pain or plateauing in their performance?
*How do I confidently adapt my programming to match the real-world needs of the people I work with?
The problem isn’t a lack of knowledge, it’s that too often, the wrong pieces of the puzzle are being emphasized. Exercise selection, intensity, and reps get the spotlight, while deeper, more impactful variables are often overlooked that prevent coaches from realizing options they have in problem solving and progressing their training.
That’s why we created “Exercise Prescription Masterclass”, a 6-week, CEU-approved educational (approved by NASM) experience led by physical therapist Jessica Bento and strength coach Josh Henkin. This course was designed to bring clarity to the often-misunderstood art of program design by uncovering the critical components most professionals aren’t taught, yet desperately need, to create smarter, more effective training.
Beyond Muscle Isolation and Generic Templates
We all want to build better programs, but too many rely on cookie-cutter templates or isolated strength strategies. They might “work” to a point, but they often miss the bigger picture, how the body moves as a system.
This course goes beyond sets and reps. You’ll learn how to design programs that reflect how people truly move and what their bodies truly need, not just in theory, but in practice. This includes understanding:
-
The relationship between motor control and muscle function
-
How poor force management in all planes of motion leads to common injuries and performance loss
-
Why movement patterns matter more than individual muscles
-
How to assess and adapt for lateral stability, rotational strength, and movement patterns such as gait.
-
The real-world application of concepts of kinetic chains and fascial systems that will influence how you teach and progress your programs.
Understanding these principles allows you to program with greater purpose and produce better outcomes.
Designed for Coaches Who Want to Think (and Train) Smarter
This course isn’t about memorizing exercises. It’s about mastering the WHY behind them.
Each week, you’ll dive into specific, research-informed topics that help you connect the dots between mobility, stability, strength, and real-life movement. You’ll learn how to view exercise as more than just a strength tool, but as a diagnostic and corrective method that helps you guide people out of pain and into powerful performance.
This program is ideal for:
-
Personal trainers looking to elevate their programming beyond general fitness
-
Strength coaches seeking to build more resilient athletes
-
Physical therapists wanting to bridge rehab and performance more effectively
-
Fitness enthusiasts who want to truly understand the science of movement
What You’ll Learn
Over six progressive weeks, you’ll explore:
-
Week 1: The Essential But Overlooked Training Variables — What are the program variables we need to fully consider in our training program, how we adapt them to various fitness levels, and how we systematically progress them in our training.
-
Week 2: Movement Chains— Gain a better understanding of how the body creates movement, the integration of fascia, muscles, tendons/ligaments, and the nervous system.
-
Week 3: Progressions & Regressions Done Right — How to use information from client health histories, movement screens, and goal assessments to create more intentional programs with anticipating common training issues.
-
Week 4: Force Management — Learn why how we absorb force is the key to unlocking greater injury resilience and the methods we use to progressively teach these concepts for any fitness goal.
-
Week 5: Programming for Real Life — How to anticipate the challenges and obstacles of working with real world clients and how to avoid derailing your training programs.
-
Week 6: Implementation for Any Training Model-We will cover how these concepts are going to streamline group and small training programs to accelerate client results, experience, as well as helping the coach be more efficient and effective.
