Can The Best Gym Be A Home Gym?

sandbag training equipment

I started working out when I was around 14 years old. It became something I loved so much I would bother my stepmom to drive me to the gym all the time. Back then, the idea of having a home gym didn’t seem like a choice of anyone who really loved to train. In fact, that idea seemed pretty consistent till I began training with kettlebells in 2002. This was the first time that I began seeing having a few pieces of equipment at home being just as effective as anyone workout I could do at the gym.

In fact, I remember living in my apartment and ordering my first sled to train with outside. The office manager had no clue what weird device I had just bought to use around our parking lot. More and more as I grew as a coach and as tools that evolved to deliver us better options in our training, the lines between at home gym and going to a big commercial gym started to blur more and more. Even some of the top training gyms now look like a gym you could have at home, just with more of those pieces of equipment.

That doesn’t necessarily spell gloom and doom for fitness professionals, in fact, it can be a blessing. Instead of creating our expertise through who can spend the most money on the most expensive equipment, now we can focus on the quality of our coaching and programming. It really doesn’t matter whether you choose to train through a home gym or go to a gym, what DOES matter is knowing how to create awesome and thoughtful workouts no matter where you train.

Here are some great examples by an awesome coach in Robin Padget….
