Page 1 of 365….I saw this meme on New Year’s day , I had to stop and pause for a second… there is something about a new year that brings the ability to start fresh, set goals, and make changes in our lives. All in the hopes that that THIS year is even better than the year before, though, we know this can be done any day out of the year. There is just something about the New Year that allows us to start back at page one and map out the next 364 days that are before us. Here at DVRT, our page one of the new year brings a very exciting program that had an inception over a decade ago but only now has shown its true potential and place. That is our L.I.F.T. Certification.
When Josh and I went to Sweden for the first time over 10 years ago to run our first certification of any type, it was nerve wrecking to say the least. I know Josh was especially nervous and determined not to do another users course on an implement masking as education. One of the things that I admired most about him, as this was all new to me too, was delivering something that would make a profound impact for people. Something that would truly empower through education of the body, not just new exercises.
Just as we attempt to evolve and better ourselves at a personal level, we realized it just wasn’t the right time to launch something so different, so new, that pushed people into a level of thinking that they just weren’t ready for yet. I’ll admit, it was frustrating because we knew that the power of what we wanted to teach people about movement strength training was encapsulated in how we put the pieces together (the equipment, the exercises, and the philosophy).
Our message had to change for awhile. DVRT grew out of a way to streamline our message of functional fitness and help people really understand how our bodies were designed to move! Over the past decade, we have had the wonderful opportunity to teach our DVRT program in over 13 counties, some of the best training facilities in the world, and the top conferences the industry has to offer.
We have seen the fitness industry evolve over time and as concepts of movement become more familiar to our profession, Josh and I were determined to bring back our original goal. That was to take the very best and versatile tools and put them into a system that would forever change how we think about strength, fitness, performance, and movement.
While there is no shortage of finding new “cool” exercises online, or get an idea here, but as far as an entire system of training….that is something fitness, performance, and yes, the physical therapy world is badly missing. That is why when we sat down last New Year’s about what we wanted to do to evolve our programs, we knew that L.I.F.T. would have to come back!
L.I.F.T. , Loaded Integrated Functional Training, is about breaking down what we believe to be the best means of teaching people how to use their bodies as they were designed to perform in the greatest sport, life! We wanted to actually educate people on how the body moves, where things go wrong in our movement, and what our body really wants to do when we perform in our daily life events.
That is one of the many reasons this certification program is so different. Josh and I didn’t want you to get an exercise here or there, anything like that. We wanted people in our industry to really study, think, implement, experiment, and benefit from the ideas of this unique system of functional training.
This led us to a unique way of releasing this program. Nothing is more frustrating for us or you than investing in something that just sits there and doesn’t get used! As we started to build out our L.I.F.T. certification we realized how large this program was going to potentially be! We were looking at almost 1,000 pages and almost over 20 hours of video. Such a thing is a great marketing tool to get you to buy such a program, but who actually has the time to even delve into such an overwhelming program?!
Trying to problem solve is what Josh and I spend the majority of our time doing and this one was really important. We decided to break down L.I.F.T. into smaller parts. Every two months we would release two new modules until all NINE were offered over the course of the year (yes, there is an intro and the first release has 3 modules as well as a program design module).
Not only did this allow us to make such a program not as intimidating, but also more cost friendly to our students! How did we decide to design the individual modules? L.I.F.T. is a coaching program based around the 7 movement patterns (squat, hip hinge, lunge, pushing, pulling, rotation, and locomotion). Each of these movement modules begin with the foundation of how we teach the concepts of these patterns and build up to higher dynamic level of strength and conditioning.
We are now able to combine tools that allow us to layer these progressions to their highest levels. Implements like kettlebells, lever bells (maces), bands, sliders, suspension units, and yes, Ultimate Sandbags will give us the opportunity to deliver on a level that truly can be the “go to” for anyone that wants to achieve goals that really matter. Whether it is overcoming chronic movement dysfunction, improve performance in a sport, and even look their best, the system of L.I.F.T. is designed to fit you, not put you into a cookie cutter program!
Our first L.I.F.T. installment includes our introduction to L.I.F.T. concepts and principles, Hip Hinge Pattern Progressions, and Pressing Progressions. This means…..
-250 pages of content.
-Over 5 1/2 hours of video instruction.
-Private Facebook group so you can ask questions directly to Josh and myself as well as interact with other professionals going through the L.I.F.T. program
-A FREE 7 pound lever bell and mini bands (for our domestic students only, international students will receive store credit).
-An opportunity to learn techniques, methods, and progressions that will completely change who and how many people you can help!
I’m sure there are plenty of questions and Josh will be following up with more information about this exciting new evolution in our functional training programs. However, you can also email us at info@ultimatesandbagtraining.com to learn more.
