“So, what muscle does that work?”

I am not surprised if that is the question you ask when you look at what appears to be some of the odd drills we show in our DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training posts. I don’t blame you! We are all usually brought into fitness and working out by trying to figure what muscles we are working. After all, isn’t that the whole point?

This whole idea of functional training has screwed a lot of people up. For years it was easy to think, “this is a back exercise”, “this is a biceps exercise”, and so on. However, functional training started to change how we look at training and is the basis of our DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training programs.

DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training and Functional Exercises

The goal of functional training is really two things. One is to actually make your body train how it naturally works (we will get into that more later) and create more efficient workouts.

Some people have questioned if functional and DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training has really changed anything about fitness. I get it, look at push-ups for example. Are push-ups a chest exercise? Yes! Are they a functional exercise? Yes! What makes them functional and why can’t we just call them a chest exercise?

It comes down to the fact to do a really good push-up you are just focusing on the chest. You are trying to integrate and be aware of your feet, your lower body,  your core, and yes, your shoulders. Something as a simple push-up becomes much more valuable of an exercise when you see it in these terms.

If you view these types of exercises just as a “chest exercise” then believe it or not, your training loses value and effectiveness. Why? Well, what helps you perform the “right” exercises, which are the better exercises, how do you keep progressing in your training? These are all questions we can answer in our DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training.

Unfortunately, unless you want to the “why’s” these things can seem kinda random and novel. You don’t have to become an expert in biomechanics or exercise science to appreciate the nuances of great training. You just have to care about them!

That is why DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training is so powerful. I could easily make an argument for about 3-5 really core DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training exercises. In fact, we will be giving you some of these DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training drills shortly, but the truth is that can be limiting if we don’t share a bigger vision.

Yes, there are 3-5 DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training drills that serve as really powerful foundational movements. However, I said FOUNDATIONAL, that means a lot in of itself. These are DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training exercises that do things that really are so much more than “working the shoulders”, or “building strong legs”, they go far deeper than that.

Evolving Your DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training

When you understand these concepts you will see that some of these DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training drills never go away, their meaning may change. It also means that when you see what seems like a brand new DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training exercise, the reality is that it is simply a progression of one of our core movements.

Today’s DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training training video is no exception. What Master DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training instructor, Mitch Hauschildt, laid out is a pretty tough looking series. It could look too challenging for many unless you realize what DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training drills make up this series.

DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training Complex-Part 1:

-Single Leg Deadlift

-Single Leg Row

-Single Leg Clean

That can seem pretty brutal and literally impossible for many! The reality is we can break this down to its bare bones of Deadlift-Bent-Over Row-Power Clean. You should have already been working on these DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training drills as your foundation, they should be engrained and feel almost automatic. All Coach Hauschildt did was progress our variable of body position and started making you work from a less stable position. This means that your leg and trunk have to work even harder!

DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training Complex-Part 2:

-Lateral Lunge

-Rotational Deadlift

-Push-up

Yea, what the heck was that second part, right?! That isn’t one of those exercises you look at an you know what just happened. Again though, we can break down these movements into foundational DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training drills.

Lateral lunging helps teach us how to move a different direction. Most of our exercises that we are familiar with move only up and down and forward and back. Changing the direction of an exercise will both make the exercise feel brand new and hit muscles you didn’t know.

Our DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training Rotational Deadlift teaches the important role of moving through the hips and not the low back. The single leg push-up isn’t just a chest exercise as we talked about. Going to single leg forces the trunk and upper body work at much higher levels.

How do you do such a DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training complex? Start with the basics that I just outlined and start to slowly build. Even if you work just the first half of the complex you will see how it isn’t which muscle, but the amount of muscles that you work that raises DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training to all new heights.
