When I developed the first sandbag for fitness programs back in 2004 (yea, there really weren’t fitness sandbags anything like you see with the Ultimate Sandbag back then) it wasn’t about creating just another weight to lift. It was about trying to find ways to improve how people could teach and develop greater strength, stability, mobility, power, and conditioning.
The principles that followed in our Dynamic Variable Resistance Training system (DVRT) are what gave the Ultimate Sandbag actually the power to create greater results. As even I often said, without the system, the Ultimate Sandbag would be just a bag of sand. That is why DVRT has always been about education based upon the science of better movement and performance. You saw that when we created other complimentary tools like our Core Strap, our water fillers, and even our ARES sled. We NEVER created anything that didn’t greatly expand what could be achieved not only in terms of results, but expanded on what functional training could be in training.
All our tools work synergistically with one another, which is not what you always see online nowadays. The creation of our NEW Mobility Balls is just the next evolution in our DVRT system. Calling this simple, but powerful tools Mobility Balls was tough because the are NOT just for mobility, they do enhance strength, stability, as well as movement efficiency as well. However, we wanted to help people understand foundationally what benefits one may find.
Such tools were first used in ancient movement systems where whole body was used to develop strength and performance. Combining these old time ideas with modern science of movement gives us the ability to approach training in a very unique and effective way. We can train the body in ways that just would not be possible with any other tool and teaches our body concepts of fitness that will improve many qualities all at once.

Not sure where to start? We recommend women begin with a pair of 2 pounders, men a pair of 3 pounders. If you want to do more corrective, post-rehab, and breath work training then our 1 pounders are ideal. Don’t get thrown off by the low weights, you will find out quickly how challenging they can be!
