Often I think people are hesitant to implement our DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training because they think we are going to take away training they already enjoy doing. Trust me, we never take anything away (however, if you decide something is better that’s up to you:) Rather, our goal time and time again with DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training is to help make what you love to do better!
This is especially true of the kettlebell community that I thought would be really excited for how DVRT Ultimate Sandbag Training could bring another layer to their kettlebell work. In reality, I do think of kettlebells and Ultimate Sandbag Training going together like peanut butter and jelly, not competing with one another.
I’ve taught kettlebells since 2003 including to Marines all over the world!
Knowing how to use each tool to enhance something about the other I think makes both better, they aren’t in competition. For example, the kettlebell swing is a monster of an exercise when it comes to developing power both vertically and horizontally. A drill that you can really load up and we do NOT do with our Ultimate Sandbag Training.
However, our MAX Lunge can help the kettlebell swing. Building hip stability, teaching how to engage the ground better, reflexive core strength, and being a 3-D kettlebell swing makes it a perfect compliment to heavy kettlebell training.
I love kettlebell front squats, in fact, I prefer them to ANY type of barbell squat for athlete and non-athlete alike. The core engagement, the spine friendliness, and the depth people can achieve makes it a beautiful exercise. However, doing some Ultimate Sandbag Training Dead Bugs as part of a warm-up for your kettlebell squats can help you achieve a stronger squat and light up your core to handle the load of the kettlebells.
Hopefully you are seeing it isn’t an either/or situation with kettlebells and Ultimate Sandbag Training, but showing how they can work together. I was especially inspired when Samantha Ciaccia and Dr. Jen Esquer came up with this great total body workout combining kettlebells and Ultimate Sandbag Training. Emphasizing the strengths of both to make a movement strength workout that truly makes your body better.
